Wear Parts TOOLS OF THE TRADE

John Deere has the answer to rising owning and operating costs. It's called Customer Personal Service (CPS). CPS is a comprehensive lineup of programs and services that lets you manage costs, save time, and reduce stress. It's an aggressive, fix-before-fail machine maintenance strategy that makes you a better equipment manager by helping preempt catastrophic downtime.

Of course, parts availability is critical to CPS - and a hot-button issue to anyone who works with heavy equipment. John Deere's Parts Availability program addresses parts availability head-on by committing to have parts critical to uptime, like bucket teeth and edges, on the shelf at your dealership. But that's not all that sets John Deere wear parts above competitive parts. Not be a long shot.

TOOLS ON THE CUTTING EDGE

Proof of our commitment to wear parts is the unique and innovative products that have been developed over the last decade. Can any other equipment manufacturer point to creative solutions like Fanggs ® teeth, Stinger ® scarifier blades, or Jagz ® interlocking edges? The answer is an emphatic "NO!"

STINGER® SCARIFIER SYSTEM

Stinger Scarifier System for motor-graders lets you remove potholes and washboard surfaces without adding gravel. The Stinger system features rotating, replaceable carbide bits that penetrate and fracture hard-pack roads. One or two passes turn the roughest road into a smooth driving surface by recycling gravel already in the roadbed.

The rotating bits are why Stinger blades last up to 10 times longer than conventional blades. They also spread material better because the rotating bits let gravel flow freely between them. Unlike non-John Deere scarifier systems, Stinger blades don't restrict the side-cast angle of the blade.

FANGG® TEETH

Fanggs Teeth dig with 23 percent less effort and deliver up to 19 percent longer wear life. The concave shape of the top surface and the sidewalls lets dirt roll freely between the teeth and gives you better bucket-fill, faster cycles, and a more aggressive cutting action. Fanggs teeth can be installed on most makes and models of non-John Deere equipment.

DUAL-CARBIDE GRADER EDGES

Dual-Carbide Grader Edges are a great way to fight back against escalating road maintenance costs. Designed for low - to moderate-impact applications, they feature an impact-resistant, mining-grade carbide surface on the front face of the blade, and a wear-resistant carbide surface at the bottom of the blade. Dual-carbide edges provide longer wear, less crowning, and fit any model of competitive grader.

John Deere universal edges let you rebuild a bucket at minimal expense. Available in a variety of lengths, widths, and thicknesses, they offer another repair option for all makes of equipment.

JAGZ ® INTERLOCKING EDGES

Jagz Interlocking Edges look, perform, and wear like no other edges on the market. Based on a unique, dovetail design, they allow you to custom-build a wear surface on almost any loader bucket - and on most scraper bowls. Jagz edges are interchangeable and reversible, which lets you manage wear. On scrapers, Jagz let you quickly change configurations to match ground conditions. On loaders, Jagz edges leave a smoother work surface for less tire wear and greater operator comfort.

SWAMPERS POLY-TEETH

In the past, swampers were those individuals who crawled into a wet trench to do the final digging on a pipeline job. They were responsible for getting the trench as clean as possible without the threat of metal striking metal, causing sparks that could lead to an explosion. But the times are about to change. In the future, when you hear someone mention a Swamper, you'll know what they are talking about. Swampers Poly-Teeth are the newest addition to the long line of innovative wear parts available from John Deere. Built of pure polyurethane, Swampers are built tough for light-and general-digging applications. And yet, they're pliable enough to prevent damage to work surfaces or underground objects. Because Swampers Poly-Teeth are non-sparking and non-conductive, the risk of sparks in areas containing gas vapors is virtually non-existent. Swampers are the perfect solution for digging out old or damaged gas lines or removing old fuel-storage tanks - any job where gas fumes are a problem.

But, don't look to Swampers only as prevention against explosions. The wide, flat profile of Swampers Poly-Teeth allows them to leave an extremely clean, flat bottom in any work trench. Operators and laborers will be impressed with the trenches dug by Swampers - they are both clean and easy to move around in, making work easier and more efficient.

JOHN DEERE DEALERS HAVE THE RIGHT ANSWERS

Expenditures for wear parts can add up to some pretty hefty numbers on the debit-side of your budget. That's why you owe it to yourself to review where you buy them. If it feels like your old supplier is not doing you - or your business - justice, it's time to let your John Deere dealer explain why it's time to switch.

Ask about selection. The depth of John Deere's line of teeth and edges will let you feel confident about using the right tool for every job - regardless of the make, model, or size machine.

Ask about service. The commitment of John Deere dealers to on-site repairs will leave little doubt about who's really serious about reducing downtime.

Ask about warranty. Even under ideal conditions, wear parts can fail prematurely. What happens next is the best way to find out if your supplier measures up. Once you know the facts on our wear parts warranty, you'll know that the folks at your John Deere dealership are the kind of people you want to do business with.

John Deere dealers offer a complete selection of teeth in fabricated, cast, and forged shapes:

• Fanggs teeth for backhoes, excavators, loaders, or scrapers. Tough enough for any application.
• Cat ®, Hensley, Esco, Helilok/Vertalok, and H & L replacement teeth.
• A complete assortment of retention hardware and adapters.

1) DURA-MAX edges are made from tempered 15B30 boron steel for good impact resistance and wear characteristics.
2) SINGLE-BEVEL CURVED edges are a good choice for jobs that require long wear and less initial penetration.
3) DOUBLE-BEVEL CURVED edges give you good penetration and long wear.
4) CARBON-STEEL edges are a lower-cost option for general-purpose, moderate-impact applications.
5) DOUBLE-BEVEL CURVED SERRATED edges let material flow through the blade and provide better penetration for light scarifying on ice, frozen gravel, and penetrating hardpan.
6) STINGER scarifier blades penetrate hard-packed road surfaces. The rotating bits turn the most moon-scaped road into a smooth driving surface.
7) DUAL-CARBIDE INSERT blades give you excellent wear resistance in low-to moderate-impact applications.

TOOLS OF SUCCESS

You won't find tools like Fanggs teeth, Stinger scarifier blades, Jagz inter-locking edges, or Swampers Poly-Teeth at the local parts supplier down the street. That's because only John Deere has the commitment and enthusiasm to develop this kind of innovative products. Your dealer Customer Support Advisor (CSA) has all the details on how John Deere wear parts will not only meet your needs - but exceed them.
